News Inside
From 2022–2024, I served as the design director for News Inside, an award-winning print publication by the Marshall Project that distributes news to jails and prisons across the country free of charge. In addition to leading a publication-wide redesign and streamlining production workflows, I played a central role in expanding the project’s editorial-to-production infrastructure, growing the team from a two-person operation to a multi-role staff, including a managing editor.
I also co-developed the reader-driven column “Reader to Reader,” creating bespoke designs for each issue and pairing incarcerated readers’ letters with curated archival imagery sourced from JSTOR’s American Newspaper Archives, children’s drawings from families served by the Osborne Association, and photo essays repurposed from our newsroom archives.
